Prayer for the City of New Kensington

You desire that the citizens of New Kensington seek and find you.

Acts 17.27 – that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us.

Thank you for not being far from the people of New Kensington.

Help the people of New Kensington to be a people who live and move and have their being in you.

Acts 17.28 – for “In him we live and move and have our being”; as even some of your own poets have said, “For we are indeed his offspring.”

Empower your people to be salt and light to the poor and oppressed in New Kensington.

Matt. 5.14-16 – You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. [15] Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. [16] In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Citizens of New Kensington, . . . repent and turn to God.

Acts 17.30 – The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.

You destined the people of New Kensington to live in this city and we bless each one.

Acts 17.26 – And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place.

May the Lord show us his marvelous kindness to those who are besieged city!

Ps. 31.21 – Blessed be the Lord, for he has wondrously shown his steadfast love to me when I was in a besieged city.

May God grant that those of New Kensington flourish like grass of the earth.

Ps. 72.17 – May his name endure forever, his fame continue as long as the sun! May people be blessed in him, all nations call him blessed!

May God deliver New Kensington’s citizens out of their distresses.

Ps. 107.7 -He led them by a straight way till they reached a city to dwell in.

May God lead the citizens of New Kensington forth by the right Way.

Isa. 358-10 – And a highway shall be there, and it shall be called the Way of Holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it. It shall belong to those who walk on the way; even if they are fools, they shall not go astray. [9] No lion shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beast come up on it; they shall not be found there, but the redeemed shall walk there. [10] And the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

May  New Kensington be a place where glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God!

Ps. 87.1-3 – On the holy mount stands the city he founded; [2] the Lord lovesthe gates of Zion more than all the dwelling places of Jacob. [3] Glorious things of you are spoken, O city of God. Selah

New Kensington may God restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning.

Isa. 1.26 – And I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city.

New Kensington, we call you the city of righteousness.

Let the citizens of New Kensington cry out together in faith: “We have a strong city; God will appoint salvation for walls and bulwarks.”

Isa. 26.1 – In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: “We have a strong city; he sets up salvation as walls and bulwarks.”

As God’s people and citizens of New Kensington we cry out “Open the gates, that the righteous nation which keeps the truth may enter in.”

Isa. 26.2 – Open the gates, that the righteous nation that keeps faith may enter in.

Let the citizens of New Kensington make God their refuge and inherit the land.

Isa. 57.13 – When you cry out, let your collection of idols deliver you! Thewind will carry them off, a breath will take them away. But he who takes refuge in me shall possess the land and shall inherit my holy mountain.

Let the citizens of New Kensington take refuge in you.

Ps. 91.1-2 – He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. [2] I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Let our city, of New Kensington, not to be divided against itself.

Matt. 12.25 – Knowing their thoughts, he said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand.”

Rescue New Kensington’s citizens from every trap and protect us from the fatal plague.

Ps. 91.3 – For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.

Let your truth be our shield and protection.

Ps. 91.4 – He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.

Help us to not be afraid of the terror by night, or of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

Ps. 91.5-6 – You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, [6] nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.

Lord, make of New Kensington a fortified city and an iron pillar, with bronze walls against drugs, theft, drunkenness, pornography, hate, violence, terror, and fear.

Jer. 15.20 – And I will make you to this people a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you, but they shall not prevail over you, for I am with you to save you and deliver you, declares the Lord.

May all the evildoers be cut off from the city of the Lord in New Kensington.

Ps. 101.8 Morning by morning I will destroy all the wicked in the land, cutting off all the evildoers from the city of the Lord.

Our enemies will fight against you God, but they shall not prevail against you.

Jer. 1.18 – And I, behold, I make you this day a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls, against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, its officials,its priests, and the people of the land.

Be with us Lord, “to deliver New Kensington.”

We wait for our city, to have foundations, whose builder, and maker is God.

Heb. 11.10 – For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.

We ask you to appoint elders in our city, New Kensington, who love you Lord.

Titus 1.5 – This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you.

Remove the confusion of idolatry off our city, of New Kensington.

Acts 19.28 – When they heard this they were enraged and were crying out,“Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”

Jesus, weep over the city of New Kensington so we may know the day of our visitation.

Luke 19.42-44 – And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it, saying, “Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. [43] For the days will come upon you, when your enemies will set up a barricade around you and surround you and hem you in on every side [44] and tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you. And they will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know the time of your visitation.”

Let New Kensington be a place to receive and heal the sick within its walls.

Luke 10.8 – Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you.

Let New Kensington know “The kingdom of God has come near to them.”

Mark 1.14-15 – Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, [15] and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

Let the citizens of New Kensington proclaim throughout the whole city what great things Jesus has done for them!

Luke 8.39 – “Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him.

Jesus, send your messengers throughout our city, of New Kensington to each neighborhood, and village preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the Kingdom of God.

Luke 4.42-43 – And when it was day, he departed and went into a desolate place. And the people sought him and came to him, and would have kept him from leaving them, [43] but he said to them, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.”
